We are a private, non-profit Non-Governmental Organization made up of people who love life in all its forms, with a strong commitment to the preservation of the environment, flora, and both wild and exotic fauna. La Fundación Tekove Mymba — expresión guaraní que significa "vida animal" — fue creada para asistir a la Sociedad y al Estado en todos sus niveles respecto de los temas relacionados con el medio ambiente, la flora y la fauna. Defender los derechos de los animales, promover la participación y la consciencia social sobre el cuidado del medio ambiente en su más amplia expresión.
Fundación Tekove Mymba — a Guaraní expression meaning "animal life" — was created to assist Society and the State at all levels on matters related to the environment, flora, and fauna. To defend animal rights, and to promote social participation and awareness about environmental care in its broadest sense.

Después de las drogas y las armas ilegales, el comercio de animales exóticos es la tercera fuente de ganancias ilícitas a nivel global. La toma de conciencia pública sobre el sufrimiento animal ha generado el cierre masivo de zoológicos: estas especies hoy están en listas de espera para ser reubicadas. Los santuarios fuera del país son impracticables por las distancias, la burocracia y el costo. Además se llevan el patrimonio natural y los recursos fuera de Argentina. Esta situación mejoraría significativamente contando con un santuario en territorio argentino.
After drugs and illegal weapons, exotic animal trafficking is the third largest source of illicit income globally. Growing public awareness of animal suffering has triggered the widespread closure of zoos: those species are now on waiting lists to be relocated. Sanctuaries abroad are impractical due to distance, bureaucracy, and cost — and they remove Argentina's natural heritage from the country. This situation would improve significantly with a sanctuary on Argentine soil.
Tekove Mymba es el primer santuario de animales de la República Argentina y el único multiespecie de Latinoamérica. Es un centro de rescate y reconversión de fauna proveniente de zoológicos, maltrato y tráfico animal, cuyo único objetivo es el bienestar de los animales, con la intención de darles una vida lo más parecida posible a su vida en libertad. En Tekove Mymba viven más de 300 animales en grandes recintos con sabana, lagunas, grandes árboles, selva en galería, arenales y cañaverales.
Tekove Mymba is Argentina's first animal sanctuary and the only multi-species sanctuary in Latin America. It is a rescue and rehabilitation center for animals from zoos, abuse, and illegal trafficking, with the sole purpose of their wellbeing — giving them a life as close as possible to the wild. More than 300 animals live here in large enclosures with savanna, lagoons, ancient trees, gallery forest, sandbanks, and reed beds.
La misión de los santuarios es ser un sitio seguro donde los animales reciban el mejor cuidado posible. Están destinados a animales que han sido rescatados — explotados, maltratados, "zoologizados" o abandonados — para que tengan una vida feliz el resto de sus días. Los animales no son vendidos ni usados para experimentación: son residentes permanentes con la oportunidad de vivir tan naturalmente como sea posible.
The mission of sanctuaries is to be a safe place where animals receive the best possible care. They are home to rescued animals — exploited, abused, kept in zoos, or abandoned — so that they may live happily for the rest of their days. Animals are not sold or used for experimentation: they are permanent residents with the opportunity to live as naturally as possible.
En los Santuarios, los animales reciben una segunda oportunidad para vivir protegidos y en armonía hasta su muerte natural.

Ubicación estratégica sobre el río Uruguay, provincia de Entre Ríos. Más del 60% de la superficie son espacios verdes muy poco intervenidos. El predio cuenta con distintos hábitats naturales: médanos, bosque de pinos, selva en galería, llanura y laguna. Temperatura media entre 8 y 26°C. Más de 40 hábitats específicos por especie, más un centro de interpretación y educación con transmisión en vivo desde cámaras camufladas en los recintos.
Strategically located on the Uruguay River, province of Entre Ríos. More than 60% of the surface consists of minimally intervened green spaces. The grounds feature diverse natural habitats: sand dunes, pine forest, gallery forest, open plains, and lagoons. Average temperature between 8–26°C. More than 40 species-specific habitats, plus an interpretation and education center with live feeds from camouflaged cameras throughout the enclosures.
En Tekove Mymba viven más de 300 animales en grandes recintos con sabana, lagunas, grandes árboles, selva en galería, arenales y cañaverales. Cada uno llegó con una historia de sufrimiento. Cada uno encontró aquí su hogar definitivo. Ninguno puede ser devuelto a la naturaleza — por eso Tekove Mymba existe.
More than 300 animals live at Tekove Mymba in large enclosures with savanna, lagoons, ancient trees, gallery forest, sandbanks, and reed beds. Each one arrived with a story of suffering. Each one found their forever home here. None of them can be returned to the wild — that is why Tekove Mymba exists.
HíbridoHybrid
Llegaron desde el ex zoológico Yastay de La Rioja. Son un híbrido, padre león y madre tigresa, que no se da habitualmente en la naturaleza. Hoy viven en un recinto de dos hectáreas en el Santuario.
They came from the former Yastay Zoo in La Rioja. They are a hybrid—the father is a lion and the mother a tigress—which does not typically occur in the wild. Today they live in a two-hectare enclosure at the Sanctuary.

Kenai es un oso pardo que fue abandonado por un circo con un día de vida. Contra todos los pronósticos se recuperó y hoy vive en Tekove Mymba.
Kenai is a grizzly bear who was abandoned by a circus when he was just one day old. Against all odds, he recovered and now lives at Tekove Mymba.

Stiffi es una osa parda que fue trasladada desde el ex zoológico Yastay de La Rioja, donde vivió por muchos años, rescatada del maltrato sufrido en un circo. Ahora vive en un bosque de 3 hectáreas, al lado del recinto de Kenai.
Stiffi is a brown bear who was transferred from the former Yastay Zoo in La Rioja, where she lived for many years after being rescued from abuse at a circus. She now lives in a 3-hectare forest next to Kenai’s enclosure.
Mono CaíCaí Monkey
En Tekove Mymba hay varios monos Caí a la espera de ser trasladados a reservas especializadas en este animal. La mayoría provienen del tráfico ilegal. Para robarlos cuando son bebés los traficantes matan a las madres. Un mono no es una mascota y es imposible tenerlo en un domicilio, ya que son animales salvajes.
At Tekove Mymba, there are several capuchin monkeys awaiting transfer to sanctuaries that specialize in this species. Most of them come from the illegal wildlife trade. To steal them as infants, traffickers kill their mothers. A monkey is not a pet, and it is impossible to keep one as a pet at home, since they are wild animals.

Son dos pumas que llegaron siendo adultos mayores desde el zoológico de Colón, Buenos Aires luego de que este cerró sus puertas. Pasaron de un pequeño recinto con piso de cemento a uno de 3 hectáreas.
These are two pumas that arrived as older adults from the Colón Zoo in Buenos Aires after it closed its doors. They went from a small enclosure with a concrete floor to one that spans 3 hectares.
BúfaloBuffalo
Rubén y Gigante son dos búfalos de agua que estaban en el ex zoológico de Córdoba, y fueron trasladados a Tekove Mymba en donde ahora cuentan con lagunas pantanosas, que son muy importantes para esta especie, y donde pasan la mayor cantidad de tiempo.
Rubén and Gigante are two water buffalo that used to live at the former Córdoba Zoo; they were transferred to Tekove Mymba, where they now have access to marshy ponds—which are very important for this species—and where they spend most of their time.
Corzuela PardaCorzuela Parda
El guazuncho es un ciervo nativo de tamaño mediano. Es considerado una especie clave para el ecosistema del monte. Es una especie protegida con el estatus de Monumento Natural en la provincia de Entre Ríos. En Tekove Mymba se está llevando adelante un programa de reproducción y reinserción en su hábitat natural.
The guazuncho is a medium-sized native deer. It is considered a keystone species for the montane ecosystem. It is a protected species with the status of a Natural Monument in the province of Entre Ríos. At Tekove Mymba, a breeding and reintroduction program is underway to return the species to its natural habitat.

Llegó siendo bebé a Tekove Mymba proveniente del tráfico ilegal. Lo traían oculto dentro de un termo, por su pequeño tamaño. Fue rescatado por Gendarmería Nacional.
He arrived at Tekove Mymba as a baby, having been smuggled in illegally. Because of his small size, he was hidden inside a thermos. He was rescued by the National Gendarmerie.
CaballosHorses
Tekove Mymba recibe cientos de caballos provenientes del tráfico, del maltrato o de animales sueltos en las rutas. Además, desde este año es depositario de todos los caballos de Gendarmería Nacional que se retiran de sus funciones. Este es el único caso en que los animales pueden ser visitados por las personas, ya que los caballos tuvieron durante años su jinete asignado, y es una relación afectiva muy importante para ellos.
Tekove Mymba takes in hundreds of horses that have been trafficked, abused, or found roaming the roads. In addition, starting this year, it has become the designated facility for all horses from the National Gendarmerie that are retired from service. This is the only place where people are allowed to visit the animals, as the horses have had assigned riders for years, and this bond is very important to them.

The "Jacinto" macaw is the most sought-after species by illegal traffickers. There are currently three macaws rescued from trafficking at Tekove Mymba.

Fue rescatada de una casa en Jujuy con algunas semanas de haber nacido. Se ignora cómo se la obtuvo. Lamentablemente tiene que vivir aislada porque no fue aceptada por los demás pumas. Esa es una grave consecuencia de sacar a los animales de su hábitat. Está recuperando paulatinamente su condición silvestre.
She was rescued from a house in Jujuy just a few weeks after she was born. It is unclear how she came to be there. Unfortunately, she has to live in isolation because the other pumas did not accept her. This is a serious consequence of removing animals from their natural habitat. She is gradually regaining her wild instincts.

El trabajo de la Fundación va mucho más allá del albergue de animales. A través de cuatro programas activos intervenimos en el rescate de fauna, la restauración de ecosistemas, la educación ambiental y la conservación de especies autóctonas.
The Foundation's work goes far beyond housing animals. Through four active programs we intervene in wildlife rescue, ecosystem restoration, environmental education, and the conservation of native species.
Activo hace más de 4 años. Se han rescatado y liberado cientos de animales autóctonos en Entre Ríos — principalmente aves. El centro cubre las necesidades de animales y plantas silvestres que, por causas humanas, han visto comprometida su libertad y supervivencia. Objetivos: desarrollar herramientas para la gestión de la vida silvestre, generar alternativas de conservación para fauna rescatada del tráfico ilegal y garantizar la perpetuidad de la flora y fauna argentina.
Active for more than 4 years. Hundreds of native animals — primarily birds — have been rescued and released in Entre Ríos. The center addresses the needs of wild animals and plants whose freedom and survival have been compromised by human activity. Objectives: develop tools for wildlife management, generate conservation alternatives for animals rescued from illegal trafficking, and ensure the perpetuity of Argentina's wild flora and fauna.
Reforestación de 250 hectáreas donadas en la cuenca del arroyo Urquiza. El foco está en la conformación de corredores que unan islas de ecosistemas nativos cuya viabilidad está en riesgo por la fragmentación del hábitat y las actividades agropecuarias. Incluye la instalación de un vivero de árboles autóctonos con el objetivo de producir al menos 10.000 ejemplares en los primeros 4 años (Timbó, Ceibo, Lapacho, Ñandubay, Quebracho blanco, Sauce criollo, Pindó y más).

Bajo el lema "No se puede proteger lo que no se conoce": charlas para el público general, ciclos en escuelas primarias y secundarias, capacitación para agentes del Estado provincial y municipal, asesoramiento a organismos públicos y privados sobre conservación y desarrollo sustentable, y producción de material audiovisual para planes de estudio en todos los niveles educativos.
Under the motto "You cannot protect what you don't know": talks for the general public, cycles in primary and secondary schools, training for provincial and municipal government agents, advisory services for public and private organizations on conservation and sustainable development, and production of audiovisual material for curricula at all educational levels.
Activo desde 2016. Conservación in situ y ex situ de especies amenazadas o en peligro de extinción. Todos los programas operan en alianza con actores a diferente escala social para maximizar el impacto. Incluye el proyecto de aves de la Eco Región del Espinal y el programa de rehabilitación y reintroducción de rapaces diurnas y nocturnas mediante evaluación sanitaria, cuarentena y potencial liberación.
Active since 2016. In situ and ex situ conservation of threatened or endangered species. All programs operate in partnership with stakeholders at different social levels to maximize impact. Includes the birds of the Espinal Eco-Region project and the rehabilitation and reintroduction program for diurnal and nocturnal raptors through health assessment, quarantine, and potential release.
